THE SOLITUDE PARADOX

Alone I sit, in contemplative haze, Weighing options, as the clock's hands daze, What dish to cook, for an empty space? Or should I sleep, and let time erase? Or perhaps, I'll lose myself in a book's embrace, Escape reality's chill, and the weight of time and space, The approaching New Year, a threshold to cross, A moment to reflect, on life's fleeting loss. A truth I've learned, in this solitude's keep, Is that self-care's the anchor, in life's turbulent sweep, For when all's said and done, and the crowd's gone their way, I'm left with myself, to face each new day. So let this be my mantra, my guiding, shining light, To prioritize my own heart, through the dark of night, For in the end, it's not what others think or say, But how I care for myself, that will see me through each day.
